Valpak Annual Consumer Savings Report Indicates 28 Percent Increase for Consumer Spending in Summer 2011

Twenty-eight percent of consumers plan to spend more this summer, an 11 percent increase since 2010 according to the annual summer survey* conducted by Valpak. The consumer spending report issued twice a year by one of the leading direct marketing companies in North America also indicates little change over last year in consumers' purchase intentions for the next six months, with one exception: consumers plan to spend more of their hard earned money on improving the interior of their homes. Responses around deal-seeking behaviors, such as coupon usage and private label purchases, however, continue to point toward post-recession consumers putting an emphasis on value.

Coupon Marketing Praised in Wisconsin Law Journal

An article on the Wisconsin Law Journal describes an "out of the box" from a personal injury attorney that has his ads in the mailbox with coupons for free educational info. on personal injury law.

The journal reports:

"Another old-school marketing idea is the Yellow Pages. Rozek says his firm tried that route but found it to be “very expensive.” It yielded a few clients, but in the final analysis was a poor value.

So they’ve moved on to ValPak, a division of Cox Target Media, which sends a stack of coupons from local businesses in the “familiar blue envelope,” according to ValPak’s Web site.

Rozek contracted for a year of quarterly coupons sent to 100,000 mailboxes in the Milwaukee area. The firm’s coupon offers a free informational publication authored by Rozek entitled, “A Consumer’s Guide: Personal Injury Claims in Wisconsin,” available both as an online download and a booklet....

The ValPak campaign has proven effective, with many prospects calling the firm’s 800 number or requesting the publication from the “landing page” created to track such requests. A sizeable number have turned into clients. Because the year’s mailings are not yet completed, Rozek expects there will be many more."

Entrepreneur.com : Coupons Recommended For Marketing Service Businesses

Customers who've had positive experiences with your company's services in the past will happily return. But tempting new customers requires making a special offer. Businesses that provide home services, such as rug cleaning, painting, home heating or air conditioning, can benefit by sending consumers coupons through a marriage-mail provider, such as Valpak. You can choose households by ZIP code, and your coupon offer will be mailed in an envelope with others. Although you won't have the undivided attention of your consumer, mail from a known marriage-mail provider is often well-received, and runs for a fraction of the cost of stand-alone direct mail. For long-term results, create a special offer that will motivate new customers to make more than a single purchase.
